چکیده

High levels of potentially toxic elements (PTEs) in water bodies negatively affect the biota aquatic ecosystems and surrounding environments. A risk assessment investigation distribution PTEs seawater Jazan coastal area, southwest Saudi Arabia, was conducted. Thirty-two surface samples were collected, contamination (Cd) heavy metal pollution (HPI) indices, as well multivariate statistics, applied. The average PTE (µg/L), descending order magnitude, Cu (2.56), Pb (2.27), Ni (1.30), Cr (1.28), Zn (1.04), Sb (0.36), Co (0.22), Cd (0.06). fluctuating pattern without a fixed direction detected spatial these metals, with increased being linked to high shown by some samples. HPI indicated low 50% medium remaining 50%, whereas PTEs. absence significant correlations between pairs metals different sources pollution. Lithogenic are implicated supply Co, Ni, Pb, Sb, mainly derived from an anthropogenic source, combined lithogenic believed have contributed area. It is proposed that urbanization, agriculture, industry among potential pollutants on coastline. Soils generated undifferentiated Quaternary rocks along investigated area main sources.

Study of contamination, sources and health risk of potentially toxic elements in dusts of Tehran’s elementary schools

Concerns about dust contamination with potentially toxic elements are especially important in environments such as schools (particularly elementary schools) because children are more vulnerable to contaminants than adults. Therefore, due to the diversity of air pollution sources in Tehran, the present study was conducted to determine the severity of pollution, origin and health risk assessment ...

Preliminary Assessment of Health Risks of Potentially Toxic Elements in Settled Dust over Beijing Urban Area

To examine levels, health risks, sources, and spatial distributions of potentially toxic elements in settled dust over Beijing urban area, 62 samples were collected mostly from residential building outdoor surfaces, and their <63 μm fractions were measured for 12 potentially toxic elements. The results show that V, Cr, Mn, Co, Ni, and Ba in dust are from predominantly natural sources, whereas C...

Vulnerability of the karst area related to potentially toxic elements

Soil samples from 31 locations in the Una river spring catchment were subject to chemical extraction analyses. The data were presented as distribution maps of potentially toxic elements (Al, Cu, Mn, Pb and Zn) in the surface soil of the area. To evaluate the vulnerability of the immediate spring zone of the karst catchment, the vulnerability map was derived from the application of the PI method...
